(العزيف ) Al-Azif
العزيف (Al-Azif) is an occasional side-project dedicated to crafting dramatic, cinematic—and, usually, very danceable—music inspired by Arabic and Ancient Egyptian mythology and based on various Arabic maqamat. Much like most of my musical endeavours, the name Al-Azif is derived from the works of H. P. Lovecraft: "Al-Azif" (according to Lovecraft, "that nocturnal sound (made by insects) supposed to be the howling of demons*") was the original Arabic title of Abdul Alhazred's masterpiece, better know by the name of its Greek translation: Necronomicon."
Some day soon I plan on releasing an entire album as العزيف, but for now, here are the two tracks currently available under that name:

*The Hans Wehr Dictonary of Modern Written Arabic defines العزيف as: "whistling (of the wind); weird sound or noise."
